Audiotronics Holds Separate Merger Talks

Audiotronics said it is holding exploratory merger talks with two companies, which it declined to identify.

The North Hollywood company, which makes audio-visual products used in classrooms, said the talks are “in line with the company’s stated policy of broadening its business base and significantly accelerating its growth.”

Charles A. Musson, chairman, said in an interview that Audiotronics is looking at two possible mergers, one with a company that’s “in a related business” and one that is not. He declined to elaborate on the companies’ identities.

The announcement had little effect on Audiotronics’ stock, which closed Monday at $1 a share, up 6 cents, on the American Stock Exchange.

Audiotronics has been struggling lately. In the six months that ended Dec. 31, the company lost $449,000 on sales of $2.6 million.
