Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III on Monday praised progress against illicit drug trafficking by Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia and Thailand.

At a ceremony marking International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Meese said that Ecuador has destroyed most of its coca cultivation to curb cocaine trafficking, that Colombia has eradicated 85% of its marijuana crop and that Bolivia has begun a new coca eradication program. Thailand, he said, “has virtually removed that country from the dishonor role of opium producers.”
