Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis met privately with several senators to discuss the Democratic vice presidential nomination, and was told by one--Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn--that he was not interested. Dukakis met with 29 Democratic senators and nine members of the House in what campaign aides described as a combination of vice presidential research and general talk about policy and politics. Dukakis met privately with Ohio Sen. John Glenn, Florida Sen. Bob Graham and Texas Sen. Lloyd Bentsen.
