Three Secret Service agents at the White House have been placed on administrative leave in a cocaine investigation, a Secret Service spokesman said, as a published report said two National Security Council employees have been fired as a result of the probe. The investigation involving drug use by workers at the White House has been going on for several months and is continuing, said Robert R. Snow, spokesman for the Secret Service. The Washington Post reported in today’s editions that in addition to the Secret Service guards, two clerical employees for the NSC at the White House have been fired as part of the investigation. Liz Murphy, a White House spokeswoman, said the NSC employees “admitted drug use and were separated from the NSC. The President is aware of this investigation.” Presidential spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said the White House was told “there were no breaches of security” found in connection with the NSC workers.
