Local News in Brief : Blasting Cap Injures Simi Valley 12-Year-Old
A 12-year-old Simi Valley boy suffered serious injury to one of his hands Friday while playing with a blasting cap, Simi Valley police said.
The boy, who was not identified, was taken to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital after the 1 p.m. incident in the 3100 block of Cochran Street, Lt. Don Austin said. “He will probably lose one of his fingers,” he said.
The youth took one of two blasting caps given to him by a friend, slammed it on the pavement and it exploded, Austin said.
