Government Offices to Close for Fourth of July Holiday

All federal, state, county and municipal government offices in San Diego County will be closed Monday in observance of Independence Day.

In addition, all courts and public libraries will be closed. There will be no regular mail delivery.

Banking institutions and stock exchanges will also be closed.

In San Diego, parking meter regulations will not be enforced. Trash pickup by the city will be made one day later than scheduled during the week.

The Miramar landfill will be open Monday, but the Montgomery landfill will be closed.

Also, seven of the city’s lakes will be open Monday: San Vicente Lake, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for water-skiing; Lake Murray from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and El Capitan, Miramar, Otay, Sutherland and Hodges lakes from sunrise to sunset for fishing.

For teen-agers who have celebrated a bit too much to drive safely this weekend, the San Diego Safe Rides program will be in effect through Monday. Student volunteers and adult supervisors will offer rides home--no questions asked--from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Call 486-300 for more information.
