Sen. John Glenn (D-Ohio) has reported personal holdings worth between $8 million and $15 million or more, making the Ohio Democrat among the wealthiest members of the Senate.

Glenn’s financial disclosure report, released Friday, says he earned between $1,280,906 and $2,704,480 in income in 1987.

His assets were valued at between $7,753,163 and $15,320,012 or more. For 1986, Glenn reported assets of between $7.9 million and $15.8 million or more.

Members of Congress are required to file reports each year detailing income, gifts, assets and liabilities. Senators were required to file by May 15, but Glenn had requested an extension.

The Senate disclosure forms are only guideposts to actual wealth because the information is listed only in category of value.

Glenn’s largest holdings include interest in Florida hotels.

Glenn has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential running mate for likely presidential nominee Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis.
