The Reagan Administration will renew and expand its campaign to destroy the nation’s illegal marijuana crop beginning July 11 in an effort to combat domestic production that has doubled in recent years, a spokesman for the Justice Department said. Robert Feldkamp, of the Drug Enforcement Administration, said the campaign against the U.S. marijuana crop, known as “Operation Stop Crop,” this summer will involve additional personnel at the federal, state and local levels. Feldkamp said that in previous years about 5% to 10% of the marijuana used in the United States was grown domestically, but that the amount of home-grown marijuana has now reached 20%.
