A twin-engine airplane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Mammoth-June Lakes Airport, coming to rest on the center divider of busy U.S. 395. All four persons aboard the aircraft died in the Fourth of July mishap. Victims were identified as Peter Drizen, 60, and his wife, Beverly, 59, of Woodland Hills and Joyce Hamm, 46, of Torrance. The identity of the fourth victim was being withheld until relatives could be notified. Despite heavy holiday traffic, no vehicles were struck by the wreckage. Federal authorities were investigating.
