Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

As part of its pre-game show at the Democratic National Convention, cable-TV’s C-SPAN says it will offer viewers a three-night blast from the past--20 hours of videotape, film and kinescope footage of televised national political conventions since 1948. Most of the footage is from NBC. The look backward starts Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. (PDT) and Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The current convention starts next Monday. C-SPAN says it will offer the same feature at the GOP convention in August.
