The U.S. semiconductor market continues to show strength as it closes its second quarter with an increase in sales over the first quarter of 1988 and ends its 19th month of growth. Preliminary billings for the second quarter are $3.34 billion, which is a 10.4% increase over first-quarter 1988 figures of $3 billion. At $1.2527 billion, June billings (shipments) to the U.S. market were 19.2% higher than May’s $1.0509 billion, which set a record for highest billings in a five-week month for the second consecutive month.
