Just added to the CBS News Democratic Convention coverage team: political commentator Eric Sevareid, veteran of 15 such gatherings. Sevareid retired from CBS in 1977 upon reaching the network’s mandatory retirement age of 65. Sevareid joins another CBS News legend, Walter Cronkite, in Atlanta for CBS coverage. “Eric Sevareid is the dean of television commentators and no convention coverage would be complete without his expertise on the American political scene,” CBS News president Howard Stringer said in making the announcement Tuesday.
