Carolyn Chandler Is Engaged to Wed Jeffrey Mitchner Barr

The engagement of Miss Carolyn Chandler to Jeffrey Mitchner Barr of Los Angeles has been announced by her parents, Mrs. Malcolm Stuart and Otis Chandler, both of Los Angeles.

The bride-to-be, a former Las Madrinas debutante, attended Westridge and Thatcher schools and was graduated from the University of Colorado, where she majored in environmental conservation and biology. Prior to her present employment with the Los Angeles Zoo, Miss Chandler served as a researcher on a game management ranch in Kenya, Africa.

Her father, the fourth family publisher of The Los Angeles Times, founded by her great-great-grandfather, Gen. Harrison Gray Otis, is chairman of the executive committee of the Times-Mirror Co. Her mother, an urban planner, chairs the Southern California Population Crisis Committee.

The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mrs. Patricia Casey Barr of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and the late Mr. John Franklin Barr Jr. He was graduated from UCLA with a film major and is currently a production coordinator at Universal Studios. His father was an executive at Hallmark Inc. and at CBS Food Brokerage in Scottsdale, Ariz.
