Workers cleaning up a United Airlines jetliner in San Francisco after a nonstop flight from Newark, N.J., heard a baby crying and discovered an 8-pound, 10-ounce newborn girl in a lavatory compartment. All of the passengers had left the plane. “The presumption is the baby was born on the flight,” said a United spokesman. The baby was reported to be in stable condition at a San Francisco hospital. Police were investigating.
