Power Outage Hits Orange Mall Area

Share

An underground cable failure briefly knocked out power to the Orange Mall, many traffic signals and about 700 Southern California Edison Co. customers in the surrounding neighborhood Friday evening, spokesmen for the utility and Orange police said.

“It went out at 7:55 p.m. and counting the whole circuit there were 700 customers on it,” Edison spokesman Gene Carter said. “All customers were back on at 8:23 p.m., with the exception of the (mall) theater.”

Carter said electricity will be restored in time for the theater’s business hours today.

Orange police officers directed traffic at intersections until power was restored, Lt. Lou Walsh said. There were no reported accidents or injuries, he said.
