How far will 20th Century Fox go to keep super-hot producer Steven Bochco happy, he of “L.A. Law,” “Hooperman” and a landmark 10-series deal with ABC?

Try this: Harris Katleman, Fox TV production president, who brought Bochco to the Pico lot, will be vacating his own offices. In fact, half the studio’s two-story TV building will be turned over to Bochco in the months ahead.

No other Fox building is large enough to house Bochco’s expanding company, and zoning restrictions prohibit new development, we were told. “Barry (Diller, the Fox chairman and CEO) didn’t unilaterally oust anyone. Harris sort of volunteered (to move out),” Bochco said.

Katleman said a plan to consolidate senior film and TV executives in Fox’s main administrative building had been in the works for two years. Bochco gets about a dozen offices--Katleman figures the renovation cost at under half a million dollars.

Bochco quipped that the money would go for removing the departing execs’ “whoopie cushions” and other “instruments of executive torture.”
