Hospital Corp. of America’s earnings grew 15% to $70.8 million in the second quarter. Revenue was $1 billion, off 23% compared to the 1987 quarter. Income gains reflected increases from sales of investments and properties, and net of charges for the writedowns of an investment and a hospital property, the Nashville, Tenn.-based company said.
