West Hollywood : Water-Saving Plan Adopted

Share

Citing drought conditions that have left Southern California with dangerously low water table levels, the City Council has adopted emergency water conservation measures that will affect everything from home faucets to public fountains.

Effective immediately, residents are prohibited from using water hoses to wash their sidewalks and driveways and are required to use buckets or a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle to wash their cars.

In an effort to reduce evaporation, the plan bans lawn watering between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

In addition, restaurants will be required to begin serving water only on request, and public fountains that do not operate on a water recycling system will be turned off.
