“The Manchurian Candidate.” MGM-UA. $79.95, 1962. Out of circulation several years, this black-and-white John Frankenheimer thriller was rereleased in theaters earlier this year to the acclaim of critics and audiences. An ingeniously complex story of a Korean War vet with something very strange--and dangerous--about him, this tense drama stars Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, Angela Lansbury and Janet Leigh.

“Suspect.” RCA/Columbia. $89.95, 1987. R. Cher and Dennis Quaid in murder-trial tale.

“The Telephone.” New World. $79.95, 1987. R. Whoopi Goldberg as a woman who literally spends most of her time (in the movie) on the phone in this critical and box-office flop.

“Where the Green Ants Dream.” Tamarelle. $59.95, 1984. R. German director Werner Herzog’s film (in English) about Australian aborigine tribe.

“The Stranger.” RCA/Columbia. $79.95, 1987. R. Mystery about amnesia patient (Bonnie Bedelia) who witnessed murder.

“A Return to Salem’s Lot.” Warner. $79.95, 1987. R. Another Larry Cohen horror film with his favorite actor, Michael Moriarty--about an anthropologist vs. vampires.

“Gaby--A True Story.” RCA/Columbia. $79.95, 1987. R. Cerebral palsy victim struggles to become college graduate and author. Norma Aleandro earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. Also stars Liv Ullmann.
