Taxes

In response to “The Difference? Democrats See Tax-Cutting as a Sin; GOP Sees Taxes as a Crime” by Raymond Price, Op-Ed Page, July 3:

Who cares about the attitudes. It’s what each does with tax money that makes the difference. Way too many of our tax dollars are being spent for destruction all over the world--fostering all the small wars in the Third World countries, financing Israel’s continuous fighting, while we fight “wars on crime, wars on drugs”--all the while cutting funds for the United Nations, and social and educational programs in our own country, etc.

In the U.S. the number of poorly educated increases, the number of homeless grows steadily, health care becomes less available, etc.

I don’t object to paying taxes, but I do object to having my money used for destructive purposes. If we used the same money to improve the quality of life there would be much less suffering and less fighting. Only the arms manufacturers would be unhappy.
