Sym-Tek Systems reported a profit of $260,000 on sales of $7.9 million for the first quarter ended June 30, an improvement from a loss of $390,000 on sales of $4.7 million during the same three-month period last year.

Chairman Ray Twigg said the company’s backlog of orders as of June 30 was $9.6 million, from $6.4 million at the beginning of the quarter.
