Leslie Uggams will star in the touring production of “Anything Goes” that will play the Southland next year.

The casting was announced by a spokesman for the Orange County Performing Arts Center, where the Cole Porter show will play Sept. 19-24, 1989. The Los Angeles Civic Light Opera has also announced “Anything Goes” is on its schedule, and a New York spokesman for the show confirmed that the road company of the Tony-winning revival, featuring Uggams, will play Los Angeles July 18-Sept. 17, 1989.

The Orange County Performing Arts Center season will also include a road version of Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s “Into the Woods.” It will play the Center March 7-12, after the previously announced Jan. 4-Feb. 26 run of the show at the Ahmanson Theater, where the tour will originate.

Rounding out the Center’s Broadway Series will be a tribute to Elvis Presley, “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Camelot.” Richard Harris will reprise his role in “Camelot,” and Topol will star in “Fiddler.”

Declaring himself “pleased with the lineup,” Center president Thomas P. Kendrick said Wednesday that “given the touring shows out there, we’ve got the very best that is available”--except, that is, for “Les Miserables,” which cannot be booked for a multipurpose hall because of its open-ended run at the Shubert Theatre.

“Camelot” will open the series (Nov. 15-20); followed by “Into the Woods,” “Fiddler on the Roof” (dates to be announced), “Elvis: A Musical Celebration” (May 30-June 4), and “Anything Goes.” The shows will be presented in association with the Pace Theatrical Group.
