Long Beach : Police Tax Proposal Held

Share

A proposal to levy a new tax to pay for more police officers will not be on the November ballot. Instead, the idea heads to the Public Safety Advisory Commission for further public hearings.

A majority of the Long Beach City Council decided this week it could not meet an Aug. 9 deadline to place the proposal on the November ballot.

The proposal is still in the working stages, and officials have not worked out the specifics of the special tax voters may be asked to consider.
