Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Unidentified Transient Dies After Being Beaten
An unidentified transient died Wednesday after he was found, beaten about the head and chest, lying near a pile of lumber near the city’s old train station, authorities said.
The victim, found by a group of transients about 6:40 a.m. in the 1000 block of East 4th Street, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, a police spokeswoman said.
The name of the victim, believed to be in his mid-30s, was withheld pending notification of relatives. Police said they are investigating the case as a homicide.
