The California Ballet honored its own at its annual meeting and awards banquet at the La Jolla Country Club on Sunday. Matthew Bean was named dancer of the year, and Thea Gueco earned kudos as student of the year. Bob White, vice chancellor of National University, was installed as the new president of the board. Victoria Hamilton, executive director of the San Diego Arts Council, was guest speaker, and Channel 8’s Liz Purcell was mistress of ceremonies.
