Savoyards, take note: The new D’Oyly Carte Opera Company has made a 10-year deal to tour the United States--a major coup for a company that completely regrouped only three months ago. The American deal, signed with U.S. impresario Howard Shaw in London, is reportedly worth more than $12 million, which would be a big shot in the arm for the new D’Oyly Carte--launched earlier this year with part of a $1.71-million bequest from Dame Bridget D’Oyly Carte, granddaughter of the company’s founder. The company will make its first eight-week visit to the United States in 1990, starting with an appearance at the New York Festival.
