Varco International, an Orange maker of oil drilling equipment, reported second-quarter net income of $824,000 on revenue of $17.4 million. In the year-earlier quarter, Varco lost $2.5 million on revenue of $7.6 million. The turnaround is a result of stepped-up drilling, particularly in the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, according to Richard Kerston, chief financial officer.
