Duarte : Firm Pays AQMD Fine

Share

S & S Products, a Duarte manufacturer of spice racks and other wood products, has paid a $25,000 fine to the South Coast Air Quality Management District as a penalty for violating air quality regulations.

An AQMD spokeswoman said the company violated permit limitations on the use of paint and failed to obtain permits for some of its spray-painting equipment. The spokeswoman said the company is now in compliance with regulations. The fine was paid in June for violations that occurred last year and earlier this year.

AQMD can seek fines of up to $25,000 a day for air-quality violations. The fine paid by S & S Products was the second largest collected by the agency in June. The largest was a $40,000 penalty paid by Stepan Co. of Anaheim for a sulfur trioxide leak.
