Baldwin Hills : Economic Development Plan

Share

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter has proposed a program designed to promote economic development in the area surrounding the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza shopping center, an 800,000-square-foot mall scheduled for completion late next month.

Galanter asked the Community Redevelopment Agency to enlarge the redevelopment project area surrounding the mall to include the nearby Santa Barbara Plaza. She also called for the formation of an economic development corporation composed of residents to plan future economic development, and she asked that the city’s profits from the mall be reinvested in the area to spur additional growth. “The profits from this project should come straight back in the form of improvements this community needs to complete its economic revitalization,” Galanter said.
