The movie biz is famously dog eat dog. So, be prepared for a string of films featuring man’s best friend.

Such as:

Trans-World’s “The Tender,” with single parent John Travolta, whose rocky relationship with his daughter improves after he takes in an abandoned pooch.

“K-9,” which started shooting last week under director Rod Daniel, casts Jim Belushi as a cop who’s partnered with a German shepherd.

Disney has “Turner and Hootch” with Tom Hanks. Again, a cop is partnered with a dog. It’s in active development and sources close to the actor say it’ll be his next film.

“My Dog Stupid,” based on a novel by John Fante, will be director Claude Berri’s (“Jean de Florette”) first American film, to shoot next year.

Carolco’s “Watchers,” a Universal release for Halloween, with Corey Haim as a young man who befriends a stray Golden Retriever escaped from a scientific lab--and their battle with the lab creature sent to destroy Fido.

Carolco also recently acquired “Duke and Fluffy.” From producer Joel Silver, it’s a yarn about a dog and a cat who die and go to heaven. Then . . . they’re reincarnated as humans and set out to find their former masters.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly is interested in playing Duke. Presumably as a human.
