Richmond Club Takes Yachting Lead in Governor’s Cup

Richmond Yacht Club of San Francisco took sole possession of first place Saturday in the 21st Governor’s Cup regatta, hosted by the Balboa Yacht Club.
After three days of sailing, Richmond (9-0) is the only undefeated club in the 12-club contest. Governor’s Cup competition is among Santana 20s, with crews of three.
Richmond, skippered by Jason Fain and crewed by Forest Fennel and Tony Fisher, is followed by Capistrano Bay Yacht Club (8-1), St. Francis (7-2), Newport Harbor (7-2), Tamaki of New Zealand (6-3), Bahia-Corinthian (4-5), San Diego (4-5), Balboa (3-6), Waikiki, Hawaii (3-6), Alamitos Bay (2-7), Southwestern of San Diego (1-8) and Chicago (0-9).
Capistrano Bay, skippered by Geoff Becker, is the defending champion and will take on Richmond in one of three final matches today at noon.
