Help-wanted advertising inched down in June, reflecting the continued stability in the job market, the Conference Board, a business-financed research group, said. The board said its seasonally adjusted help-wanted index dropped to 157 in June from 160 in May, but was ahead of the June, 1987, figure of 152. The index measures the volume of classified ads in 51 major U.S. newspapers. An economist for the board said the index responded to strong labor market conditions that have given way to stability and added that there were no signs of sustained weakening.
