The Environmental Protection Agency should do more to stop ocean dumping and curb pollution, two Democratic senators from New Jersey said. “Their (EPA’s) job is to protect the public health and safety and they are failing in that job,” Sen. Bill Bradley said on ABC’s “This Week With David Brinkley.” “Every week in New York City 500,000 pounds of medical waste is taken out of the city and nobody knows where it goes,” Bradley said. His colleague in the Senate, Frank R. Lautenberg, said the EPA had not used the authority available to it to take steps to curb the dumping of infectious wastes.
