Tire Co. Owner Sentenced
The owner of an Italian tire company was sentenced in Los Angeles today to 366 days in prison for mailing child pornography from his homeland to an undercover police officer in Southern California.
Alessandro Moncini, 47, has been held without bail since his arrest on March 18 as he stepped off a flight at Kennedy International Airport in New York. His attorney, Stanley Greenberg, said Moncini already is eligible for parole and could be released within days. Moncini, of Trieste, Italy, is head of the family owned Moncini Tire Co. He was convicted May 25 on four counts of violating the Child Protection Act. He mailed samples of child pornography on four occasions in 1986-87 to a Valencia address for the undercover officer posing as a customer.
