Viacom Inc. reported a second-quarter net loss of $29 million, compared to a loss of $39 million a year ago. Revenue totaled $298.4 million, up 17%. The New York holding company for Viacom International said the results reflect a pretax gain of $16.8 million on the sale of the company’s investment in Orion Pictures Corp. and lower earnings from the Showtime/Movie Channel, MTV and Lifetime networks.
