A federal judge in Boston upheld a landmark patent ruling in favor of Polaroid Corp., saying another judge in the case against rival Eastman Kodak Co. was unbiased even though a relative owned Kodak stock. Kodak had asked U.S. District Judge David Mazzone to throw out a 1985 decision by federal Judge Rya Zobel that Kodak had violated several Polaroid patents on instant film and cameras. Kodak had argued that all of Zobel’s rulings should be vacated because her mother-in-law owned Kodak stock. Zobel withdrew in May after the relative died and she was named as a beneficiary of the stock.
