Stephen Crutchfield, 33, of Monrovia was found guilty of misdemeanor battery for punching base umpire Dave Samarzich, 26, during a high school game between Pasadena Muir and Glendale last April.
Joseph F. DeVanon, Glendale municipal court commissioner, told Crutchfield: “You have no business on that field.”
The incident touched off a game-ending brawl, and Muir subsequently forfeited.
Crutchfield is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 9. He could receive up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
