I enjoyed Dan Sullivan’s Page 2 article about Worcester, Mass. (“The Real Heart of the Commonwealth,” Aug. 7), I seem to recall being taught at St. Francis de Sales Church (and grammar school in Chicago) that it was St. Sebastian who was martyred by arrows.

St. Stephen was one of the first ever--I speculate--to get stoned.
