A Mexican television network stopped broadcasting a historical series after producers protested that episodes were cut to drop references to a former president, the father of an opposition leader, the magazine Proceso said. It said the private Televisa network dropped the last 30 episodes from its re-broadcast of the 170-episode “Path to Glory” epic, which dramatizes Mexican history from 1917 to the 1938 nationalization of Mexico’s oil industry by President Lazaro Cardenas. Cardenas’ son is Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, the official runner-up in the July 6 presidential election. The younger Cardenas says he was fraudulently denied victory by the government and the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party.
