U.S. to Face Belgium in Britannia Cup

The United States will face Belgium today in the second round of the International Tennis Federation’s Britannia Cup at the Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.

Belgium defeated Brazil Monday in the first round of the tournament, which is for players at least 65 years old. The United States, which has won the cup nine years in a row, is the top-seeded team and received a bye in the first round.

In other first-round play, France defeated the Republic of Germany, 2-1.

The Dubler Cup, for players at least 45, and the Austria Cup, for players at least 55, will begin play today at the Lindborg Racquet Club.

Teams from 13 nations are represented in the tournament.
