Share

Santa Ana’s 1989 Rose Parade float will commemorate the centennial anniversaries of Orange County and the Tournament of Roses with an entry depicting an explosion of fireworks, shooting rockets and spinning pinwheels, officials have announced.

The design was unveiled at the recent Orange County Centennial Ball at the Disneyland Hotel and will be on display in the City Hall lobby at 20 Civic Center Plaza. The theme of the 1989 Rose Parade is “Celebration 100.”

The vibrant colors on the float will be achieved with bleriot orchids, golden shower orchids, yellow pompons, white phaleonopsis orchids and dichondra, along with the required roses. Dry materials such as rice, corn husks, Chinese lentil seed and strawflowers also will be used.
