The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange has agreed to pay $54,700 to settle a lawsuit filed on behalf of an Anaheim boy who claimed that he was sexually molested by a priest five years ago, attorneys said. The boy’s mother sued the diocese after complaining to officials at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church in Anaheim that her son, then 8, was allegedly molested by Father Robert Foley during a church-sponsored Boy Scout camping trip. According to the suit, the priest told the boy to keep quiet or the devil would get him. Foley was an associate pastor at St. Justin in 1983 and ran a Scout troop made up mostly of boys from the parish. No criminal charges were pressed against him. Foley reportedly now lives in London.
