Music Merci Regains Form in Del Mar Win
Canadian-bred Music Merci, whose lone defeat was to King Glorious in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship, regained his winning form Wednesday with a victory in the $64,250 De Anza Stakes at Del Mar.
Music Merci, ridden by Chris McCarron, took command in the upper stretch of the six-furlong dash, and then drew off to win by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:10.
Music Merci earned $37,250 and paid $6, $3.60 and $3.20 before a crowd of 14,740.
Three Times Older paid $8.40 and $3.20, and Playmeonemoretime returned $3.
Gene Klein’s Great Genes broke down in the right foreleg on the far turn and had to be destroyed.
