CALIFORNIA - News from Aug. 19, 1988

Peter Cannon, vice president of research and chief scientist at Rockwell International Corp., will leave that job to be president and chief executive at Conductus Inc., a start-up company that hopes to be among the first to commercialize superconductors. Cannon, 56, who now works at Rockwell’s facilities in El Segundo and Thousand Oaks, will join Conductus on Oct. 3. Based in Palo Alto, Conductus was launched a year ago by a group of venture capitalists and scientists from Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley. John Shoch, acting president and CEO, will continue as chairman.
