Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : Recall Group Dispute Won’t Result in Charges
- Share via
Deputy Dist. Atty. Christopher John Evans said he has not found sufficient evidence to file charges against City Councilman Robert F. Gentry for allegedly interfering with citizens’ attempts to obtain signatures on recall petitions against him.
Evans said he had interviewed all witnesses and examined police reports on a June incident in a South Laguna supermarket parking lot, in which, members of the Committee to Recall the City Council said, Gentry had disrupted their efforts.
The recall move against Gentry, Mayor Dan Kenney and Councilwoman Lida Campbell Lenney failed Aug. 5 when the county registrar found that each of the three separate petitions contained fewer than the required 2,997 validated signatures of voters.
