San Diego
Timothy Pestotnik, a business litigation attorney, has been awarded the 1988 State Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award for San Diego and Imperial counties.
Pestotnik, a lawyer with Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, was cited for his voluntary efforts on behalf of San Diego AIDS patients. At 27, he is the youngest attorney ever to be honored with the award, which is presented annually to a lawyer in each of the State Bar’s nine districts.
A Cardiff resident, Pestotnik donated 900 hours in 1987 and 600 hours in the first half of 1988 to help AIDS victims with legal problems ranging from the preparation of wills to discrimination by landlords and employers. He also is chairman of the board of the San Diego AIDS Project. His father died of AIDS.
The award will be presented by State Bar President Terry Anderlini on Sept. 23 at the group’s annual meeting in Monterey.
