TWA Offers Car Bonus for London Travelers

Share

TWA is offering passengers who buy round-trip tickets to London three days’ free use of an Alamo economy rental car.

Unlike some other promotions involving airlines and rental cars, this offer isn’t based on two people traveling together; you can get the car on a solo basis.

The car offer includes unlimited mileage. Taxes and a fuel surcharge of 11 are extra. There is optional insurance and collision damage waiver protection to consider. Cars used for the program have standard transmissions.

The rental cars can be picked up at either Heathrow or Gatwick airports by showing your round-trip TWA tickets. The autos have to be returned to the same airport station to avoid a drop-off charge. The three days are based on 24-hour periods, so if you picked up the car at 8 p.m. on a Monday you wouldn’t have to return it until the following Thursday by 8 p.m.

The cars offered are subject to availability, so reserve by calling Alamo at toll-free (800) 732-3232. Ask about TWA’s “London Special.” This offer is good until the end of next March, but there are blackout periods such as the Christmas holidays. For your air tickets, contact travel agents or TWA at (800) 892-4141.

Meanwhile, all five Rank Hotels in London are participating in the chain’s “More London For Less” summer package. The program offers savings of $50 to $100 a night, depending on the property, about a 50% discount.

There is a two-night minimum stay requirement. Until the end of August your stay can be throughout the week; during September and October, when the program ends, the two nights have to be over a weekend.

Rates include a full English breakfast and all taxes, including the value-added tax (VAT). You also get discount vouchers good for such sightseeing attractions as the London Zoo, Transport Museum and Planetarium, as well as restaurants in all five of the Rank Hotels, not just the one where you are staying.

Bookings are prepaid in dollars, so you don’t have to be concerned about the dollar losing ground on the currency market.
