The creator of the bankrupt Sasson jeans empire surrendered in New York and was ordered held without bail for violating an agreement that had freed him while he awaited trial for allegedly threatening the life of a judge. Paul Guez, who gave himself up to federal marshals, had disappeared last week while free on $100,000 bond, then appeared without his lawyers before the judge he is accused of threatening. A U.S. District Court judge had revoked Guez’s bail and issued a warrant for his arrest after the government said Guez violated the conditions of his release after his arrest in May for threatening the life of U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton R. Lifland, who is overseeing Sasson’s reorganization.
