The architectural firm that designed the expansion of John Wayne Airport will be the new principal architectural adviser to UC Irvine, university officials announced Tuesday.

Leason Pomeroy Associates of Orange County replaces Pereira Associates of Los Angeles, which guided planning of the 23-year-old UCI campus from its inception. Company founder William Pereira created the master plan for UCI and served as consulting architect until his death in 1985.

“Leason Pomeroy Associates is a well-established Orange County firm, known for its exceptional design ability and thorough project management expertise,” said David Neuman, UCI’s campus architect and associate vice chancellor of physical planning.
