San Diego
A Southeast San Diego man was shot to death near his home late Monday, police said.
Samuel Daniels, 23, was shot twice in the stomach after arguing with an unidentified man in the 5700 block of Bates Street, police spokesman Dave Cohen said.
Daniels had left the scene of the confrontation, but returned with some friends, Cohen said. He said the argument escalated, and the assailant shot Daniels with a small-caliber handgun.
The victim was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital, Cohen said. Police are searching for the suspect, who reportedly fled in a car.
